Ah, flat white coffee - it's not just a regular cup of joe! It's the perfect combination of a smooth, creamy texture and a strong espresso flavor that keeps you coming back for more.
Let me take you through my tried and tested recipe for a flat white, so you can get the perfect cup every time. Now this may sound complicated but it's actually really easy - you simply use your espresso machine to create the espresso, attach the steamer to the jug and steam the milk. And with just two ingredients - espresso and milk - along with a 150-200ml capacity cup, you can make the perfect flat white.
I always find it calming to create the beautiful pattern with the milk. As you gradually lower the jug towards the coffee, make sure to angle the jug slightly at the end to speed up the rate of very slowly pour. This will cause the fluffy foam to hit the back of the cup and create the desired 'marble' effect.

Brewing the perfect flat white is like a science experiment - and the reward is an absolute treat! With the right combination of espresso and steamed milk, you can make the most delicious cup of coffee and impress your friends. So, why not give it a try?
Ingredients
- 18g ground espresso, or 1 espresso pod
- 100ml milk
You will also need
- the right cup, 150-200ml capacity
Instructions
- Step 1: Use your coffee machine to prepare approximately 35ml of espresso and pour it into the bottom of your mug.
- Step 2: Attach the steamer to the jug and steam the milk until a thin layer of foam (approximately 1-2cm) covers its surface. Position the spout of the jug 3-4cm above the cup and start pouring the milk gently. Gradually lower the jug towards the coffee, but be careful not to let it touch the surface. To create the desired pattern, speed up the rate of pour at the end by angling the jug slightly. This will cause the milk to hit the back of the cup and start naturally folding in on itself.
