Coffee Granita
Cool off this summer with the most delicious Coffee Granita! The perfect blend of freshly brewed coffee, sugar, and coffee liqueur is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Serve it with mascarpone and grated dark chocolate for a luxurious treat!
Ingredients
- 500ml freshly brewed, strong black coffee (we used 30g ground coffee in a cafetière and brewed for 7 mins)
- 80g golden caster sugar
- 100ml coffee liqueur (we used Kahlúa)
To serve (optional)
- 1 tub mascarpone
- 50g dark chocolate, grated
Instructions
- Step 1: Place the coffee in a container and mix in the sugar until it is blended. Incorporate the coffee liqueur and let it cool completely.
- Step 2: After allowing the mixture to cool, transfer it to an appropriate vessel that can be frozen. Store in the freezer for an hour and mix with a fork - you'll begin to see frozen ice crystals appearing around the edges. Place back in the freezer for twenty minutes before stirring again. Do this once or twice more until the granita is composed of chunks of ice.
- Step 3: Serve in an attractive manner, either in glassware or bowls. If desired, add a spoonful of mascarpone and sprinkle with dark chocolate to create a more luxurious version.
